Real but as Fairy tale - Pigeon busted in cocaine, cannabis prison smuggle attempt

A pigeon was busted as it tried to smuggle cocaine and cannabis into a Costa Rican prison. The bird was used in a bizarre attempt to sneak narcotics to inmates at La Reforma Penitentiary. Eagle-eyed guards discovered the
pigeon had a pound of cocaine and cannabis stuffed into a black pouch attached to its chest on Tuesday.
Police said the prison guards noticed the bird flying overhead with a bundle with a zip attached to its body.
Prison director Paul Bertozzi said guards grew suspicious when they saw the bird going towards an open area of the prison, with a zip attached to its body.
“They observed the bulge on the animal so they captured it and confirmed that it carried a bag with zipper — and the drugs were inside. It seems the dove was trained for it,” he said.
"We have a warning that this method can be used again as it is not the first time in the history of La Reforma that a pigeon was detected with drugs."
The prison is investigating who was responsible for the drug-smuggling attempt, according to the Daily Mirror.
The pigeon was examined at a nearby rescue centre and they determined that bag caused some damage to the animal’s digestive system.
Previous attempts to use animals to smuggle drugs into prisons have also utilized cats and an iguana.
