Nigerian Women Journalists honour Jonathan with Grand Dream Child Award

Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan
In what has been described as the love shown to the womenfolk by his administration, Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has been nominated for the prestigious Grand Dream Child Award by the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ). A letter conveying the nomination to Jonathan, signed by the National President of NAWOJ, Ifeyinwa Omowole, said: “It is on record that Jonathan’s government enforced and even exceeded the Beijing recommendation regarding affirmative action on the empowerment of women in government many years after the Beijing conference.”

Extolling the virtues of Jonathan and his government, the association added, “Your administration, more than any other, changed the fortunes of Nigerians, especially the womenfolk which the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) represents.”

In a letter of acceptance from the office of former President Goodluck Jonathan, signed by Thierry H. Ngoufan, his chief of staff, Jonathan appreciated the gesture and thanked the association.

The letter extended Jonathan’s best wishes and extreme gratitude to the association for the kind words of praise, and also prayed for the success of all endeavours of the association.
