Ambassador Adefuye Dies - FG mourns Nigeria’s envoy to US

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed sadness over the death of Nigeria's Ambassador to the United States of America, Adebowale Adefuye who passed away on Thursday at a hospital in the United States.
The ministry in a statement on Friday mourned Adefuye and expressed the condolences of the Permanent Secretary, Amb. Bulus Lolo, and the entire officer Corps and workers to the family of the deceased.
It prayed that the Almighty grants them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Adefuye was born in 1947, in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State, and in 1967 received his first degree in History at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He went on to acquire a Ph.D in the same University.
The late envoy, in his quest for knowledge, furthered his studies at the Colombia University, The University of North Florida and the University of Florida.

In the course of his relentless service to his country, Adefuye from 1987 to 1991, served as the Nigerian High Commissioner to Jamaica, with concurrent accreditation to Haiti and Belize.
He thereafter went on to serve as the Deputy High Commissioner at the Nigeria High Commission in London, United Kingdom from 1991 to 1994.
He was appointed by the Commonwealth as the Deputy Director of Strategic Planning during his service in London.
Before his appointment as the Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, he served as an advisor to the Economic Community of West African States between 2008 and 2010.
